All mobile pods have a curved wooden base with a slight incline to prevent excessive splashing.Tracks are provided at the roof of all pods from where screens drop down during rain or too much heat.

The project brief was to design a Nature Intepretation Centre for a suitable environment of our choice in order to promote, conserve, research and enhance the importance of an ecosystem in that area. We chose the Mangroves in Pichavaram in India as our location for preservation. Mangroves have the ability to desalinate water and they help protect the coast by acting as barriers against tsunamis, hurricanes etc. due to their unique roots. The site is a mangrove island surrounded by waterways and wetlands/agricultural lands on either side.A nature interpretation centre is meant to promote a creative learning environment wherein the visitors are exposed to the cultural and historic heritage of the area and thereby particitpate in its conservation. The structure and form was inspired by the mangrove and its three-layered form. Nisarga is a community centre that guides its visitors through elevated platforms, submerged water walkways and perched resting pods. Mangrove regeneration strips, solar trees and Nutrient pools are provided as a means of contributing back to nature. Learning bridges & underwater walkways are incorporated for exhibitions, teaching spaces and landscaped relaxing zones and a glimpse into the marine life of the mangroves. 4 mobile pods have been designed : classroom pod, exhibition pod, rest pod and research pod. These are meant to float along the mangrove reserve to provide the visitors a hands-on experience through the ecosystem.
